"THE MISSION OF THE WILLIAMSTON DEPOT MUSEUM IS TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, AND DISPLAY THE HISTORICAL RECORD OF THE WILLIAMSTON AREA. THE MUSEUM PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH PRESENTATIONS, EXHIBITS AND TOURS."
The Depot Museum is located in the historic town of Williamston, Michigan, 15 miles east of Lansing, Michigan. The Depot Museum is an organization whose aim is to preserve the history and artifacts of Williamston and the townships of Leroy, Locke, Wheatfield and Williamstown.
The museum is now open every Wednesday from 1-6 pm, the second Sunday of every month from 2-4 pm and by request or appointment by calling (517) 420-0971. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
A new resource is available at the museum for those who want to research people who lived in and around the Williamston area. The PEOPLE FINDER database is a master index for some of the many journals, scrapbooks and notebooks that are part of the museum's collection. Researchers can find information on births, deaths, marriages along with photographs and biographical information. The database can be searched by last name or maiden name and will show where the source item is housed in the museum and on what page the personal information can be found. To have someone assist you with research, please call (517) 966-0205.
